Every Dubai agency says its websites are "responsive." Almost none of them can tell you what that actually means, or show you where their last build broke. We can — because we've rebuilt enough half-responsive sites to know exactly which screens get skipped, and we build to close those gaps before launch, not after a client complains.

If you're evaluating agencies for a new build or a rebuild, here's what separates a site that's genuinely responsive from one that just looks fine on the one phone someone tested it on.

Where responsive builds actually break in Dubai

Broken product grid on a mobile screen with overlapping filter chips

The homepage is almost never the problem. It's simple enough that most agencies get it right, even by accident. The failures cluster in the screens nobody stress-tests before handoff:

  • Filtered product catalogs. Once you add sort options, category filters and pagination, the number of layout states explodes. Filter chips wrap into the product grid, "showing 1–24 of 340" collides with the sort dropdown, and nobody catches it because nobody tested with filters actually applied.
  • Booking and multi-step forms. Step one — pick a date — usually works. Step three, where payment details and file uploads live, is where agencies stop testing. That's also the step your customer is most likely to abandon on if it breaks.
  • Admin and back-office panels. If your build includes "an area where I can manage stock and process orders," ask directly whether that panel was built responsive too. It's the piece most likely to have been left desktop-only, and the piece you'll actually be using from your phone between meetings.
  • Arabic and RTL layouts. A site that flips direction for Arabic isn't a translated copy of the English layout — it's a second layout. Agencies that treat RTL as a CSS toggle instead of a real design pass ship broken spacing, misaligned icons and forms that read the wrong way.
  • Checkout with UAE payment methods. Telr, PayTabs, Tabby, Tamara — each one renders its own widget, and each one needs to be checked on a real phone screen, not assumed to inherit the surrounding layout.

This is exactly why the same brief gets quoted so differently across agencies. "Responsive layout that works on desktop and mobile" sounds like one line item. In practice it's five or six separate things that either got built and tested, or got assumed and skipped.

What we build differently

We don't treat "responsive" as a checkbox. Every build we ship is tested against the screens above before it goes live, not discovered broken after.

What most agencies doWhat GoDesign does
Resize a browser window and call it testedTest on real devices at real breakpoints — 360px, 768px, 1024px
Build the homepage responsive, leave admin/back-office desktop-onlyAdmin panels and dashboards held to the same standard as public pages
Bolt Arabic on as a mirrored stylesheetRTL designed as its own layout pass, not a toggle
Quote a vague "responsive design" line itemScope every template and breakpoint explicitly, in writing, before work starts
Outsource the build to a subcontractorSame team in Dubai Media City designs, builds, and QAs your site

You also keep full ownership of the code and hosting from day one — no lock-in, no "come back to us to make a change."

Our process

  1. Scope — we list every page template and breakpoint that needs testing, in writing, so there's no ambiguity in the quote.
  2. Design — layouts built for the smallest screen first, then scaled up, not the other way around.
  3. Build — custom code, not a bought theme with colours swapped.
  4. Device QA — every listed template checked on real phones and tablets, including admin views if they're in scope.
  5. Launch — fixed timeline, warranty period included.

Who this is for

  • E-commerce and catalog sites that need product grids, filters and search to hold up on mobile, whether checkout is live now or coming later.
  • Booking and appointment platforms where a broken step-three form costs you a customer, not just a bounce.
  • Professional services firms (legal, consulting, healthcare) that need one polished, fast, mobile-correct site more than a sprawling one.
  • Existing WordPress or Shopify sites where "improve mobile responsiveness" is the actual brief, not a full rebuild.

FAQ

What does "responsive website design" actually mean? A site that adapts correctly across the full range of screen widths people actually use — small phones, tablets, small laptops, and large desktop monitors — not just the one device someone happened to check it on.

How long does a responsive rebuild take in Dubai? Depends on the number of unique templates and whether admin panels or payment integrations are in scope. We give you a fixed timeline as part of the quote, before any work starts.

Is responsive design different from building a mobile app? Yes. A responsive website is one codebase that adapts to any screen through the browser. A mobile app is a separate, installed product. Most businesses need a responsive site first — an app is a second step, if it's needed at all.

Can you fix an existing site instead of rebuilding it? Often, yes. If the underlying structure is sound, we can target the specific broken screens — catalog pages, booking forms, admin views — instead of starting over.
