What they came to us with.
Dash & Pinch publishes recipes. A blog template treats a recipe as a post with a title and a body, which is not what a recipe is. Ingredients, steps, timings and yields are structured information, and a plain text editor throws that structure away the moment it is typed.
The site also had to be run by one person. Anything that needed a developer to publish would not survive a weekly writing schedule.
What we built.
We built a custom recipe content model rather than bending a theme into one. Each part of a recipe is its own field, so every recipe comes out in the same shape no matter how it was written.
Speed was handled during the build rather than as a pass at the end, because a recipe page is mostly images and mostly read on a phone.

What changed.
The writer publishes without help. Recipes go up in a fixed structure, which keeps the library consistent as it grows and keeps the pages quick.
